Navigation and Footer Changes
Rebel40000 - 12/28/08

Yeah, yeah, I know. I said I was more than likely not gonna update until after the New Year, but here I am. I finally finished "tinkering" with the site late last night, and now I've decided to use it to update the navigation and footer. First, with the navigation, I've removed the Team Wiki... it was an interesting idea and I was all for it, but not many other people were so it's kinda fallen apart. Instead, I've replaced it with the ol' Guestbook! I figured that the site has grown some since the last time it was placed on the navigation, so it could use a bit more exposure, maybe. Next, I also changed the footer, because let's face it--the old one had been used since the site was first made back in '04. I feel that it was time for something a little more up-to-date.

Anyway, that's all from us. Seriously! The next update will be in 2009! See you next year!

A Merry Christmas To All...
Rebel40000 - 12/24/08

...And to all a good night!

On a more serious note, we've got a present for everyone! Courtesy of Sean, a small Christmas poem is now up as a special epilogue. Go ahead and read it.

That's all from us this year. Probably. I've been trying to tinker around with the site some these past couple weeks to no avail, so if you see anything wrong with the pages it's probably me. With that I bid you farewell... and wishing you all a Happy New Year!

New Article
Rebel40000 - 12/08/08

Taking a break from epilogues, there is a new article up that I have written. As I'm sure most are probably aware of by now, Guns N' Roses, who hasn't released an album since the original line-up split fifteen years ago, finally released Chinese Democracy last month. The article, as you might have guessed, talks about the album as well as a brief history of the band, since it's pretty interesting. You can read the new article here.

First For Everything
Rebel40000 - 12/03/08

Today is a rawkin' day, everyone! Metabad finally wrote an epilogue for the team! Titled Ashes to the Stars, it is a tale of epically rawkin' proportions! It's a little long, so grab a can of Coke and have at it!

Rinse and Repeat
Rebel40000 - 11/17/08

We've got another new epilogue up! I must say we are on a definite roll. This one, titled Magical Mishap, was written by Sean. What exactly happens when our Crystal Snail tries to remove his curse? Well, obviously there's a mishap. A magical mishap.

Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!
Rebel40000 - 10/31/08

Halloween is here for all of you trick or treaters. Of course the CIA is not without some scary fun either, with the addition of a new epilogue. It's actually been up on the forums for a while now (as a bit of a treat), but here you can view it in its "proper" format. So be sure to read it if you haven't... and... don't eat too much candy!

Rogues Gallery Redux
Rebel40000 - 10/08/08

I think this is the first time I've made a major update twice in one day! Well, after finishing up the Rogue's Gallery, I realized that it was starting to get a little "out of hand" with all of the new entries being added to it. Thus, I gave it a bit of an overhaul, moving all of the rogue profiles into different categories. There may be some more tweaking but this is going to be more or less it. Hopefully this will make the presentation much easier to keep up with. Peace out!

Epilogues, Rogues Gallery, Spoilers
Rebel40000 - 10/08/08

Whoa, check it out! Another epilogue, titled New and Improved, is now up! This one was written by me, if you can believe it.

Also, I have updated the Rogue's Gallery with a lot of new changes and additions. Make sure you read the new epilogue before checking it out though, all right? There are spoilers abound in there.

First Epilogues
Rebel40000 - 9/28/08

Like I promised last time, the first epilogue of Series 4 is now up! This one was written by our Wheel Gator, Outlaw. Coincidentally, there is also a new special up, making it our first special for Series 4! This particular special was written by our Overdrive Ostrich, Shadowstrike! So make sure you check them both out!

Mega Man 9
Rebel40000 - 9/24/08

Today is the big day! The end of "The Mega Man Countdown"! Today Mega Man 9 was finally released in Japan, meaning that the game is now overseas. Like the previous eight games, I'm gonna do some talking about it but I'll not reveal any spoilers.

For what is shown at the beginning, robots created by Dr. Light start rampaging across the world and Dr. Wily appears on television, declaring Dr. Light as the culprit and asking people to donate to him so he can put a stop to Dr. Light. Mega Man thus sets off to destroy the eight Robot Masters to clear his creator's name! The game itself is like a trip to the past--Mega Man can no longer slide or charge his Mega Buster, but they are not needed. Rush returns in all of his glory with Beat and Eddie however, along with the previous missing E-Tanks! The shop from MM7 and MM8 also return this time with a good medium between the two (MM7 screws were easy to collect; MM8 they were rare). This game also boasts Achievements, giving you a vast list of things you can accomplish in the game along with a ranking board for fastest stage completion/game completion. This means loads of replayability!

I am loving Mega Man 9; in fact, it may even surpass Mega Man 4 as my favorite game in the series... it is just that good. For all of you Wii owners who have not gotten this gem yet, what are you waiting for? Go out there and purchase it! You will not be sorry.

Anyway, I thank you all for participating in The Mega Man Countdown! It was a blast to do and I hope everyone enjoyed it. Next update... the first epilogue of Series 4! See you there!

Mega Man 8
Rebel40000 - 9/23/08

Just as Mega Man 7 was the Blue Bomber's only trip into 16-bit, Mega Man 8 was the only one in 32-bit.

The story this time goes out into space as the world is invaded by an alien substance known as Evil Energy, with Dr. Wily using it to power his machines. Accompanied by an alien robot known as Duo, Mega Man blasts through more Robot Master stages to save the world. This game is vastly different compared to the previous installments, doing away with the E-Tanks for the first time and completely changing Rush's moves (although he does use Rush Jet in certain segments). The shop returns with Roll as the owner this time but there are only a certain amount of bolts to collect, thus you must choose what items you want carefully. The Robot Master's weaknesses have also changed, this time being far more effective when the RM is performing a specific function. Of course, the most memorable part of Mega Man 8 could be described in four simple words:

Jump. Jump. Slide. Slide.

Mega Man 8 is far from perfect. In fact, due to the absence of E-Tanks and Rush being completely useless, it is rather hard and frustrating and makes this one of my least favorite Classic games. The anime cutscenes are a nice addition but the voice actors make me want to scream bloody murder (I actually prefer X4's voices over this game's selection...). After this game, will its graphically downgraded sequel be able to come out on top? We'll just have to wait and see... although for you Wii owners, you probably already know the answer, don't you?

Mega Man 7
Rebel40000 - 9/22/08

After the success of the Mega Man X series on the Super NES, Capcom decided to bring back our favorite Blue Bomber in his next installment. Mega Man 7 was the first and only Classic game to 16-bit, not counting the arcade games. Mega Man 7 was the first Mega Man I had ever played and thus it holds many memories for me. It is certainly one of my top favorites and I thoroughly enjoy playing it.

Four Robot Masters that Wily left behind reawaken and break Wily loose from prison, setting off the story for this game. Mega Man returns with Rush (who finally performs like he did way back in MM4) along with a new rival: Bass and his robotic wolf, Treble. Unlike the previous games, rather than being able to choose between eight RMs you are only given a choice between four. After beating them the next four are then unlocked, however there is a code which allows you to skip the introduction level (a feature first introduced in X1) and take on all eight, mirroring the 8-bit days. Mega Man has a bunch of new power-ups to collect, some old and some new, and there is also a shop that Mega Man can check out where he can puchase several items. The game wasn't too hard... but the final boss is considered by many to be extremely difficult, perhaps even the toughest in the entire series. The graphics were bright and colorful and the music was very catchy which makes this a grand game.

As for the Countdown, today is the day that Mega Man 9 is released on WiiWare! For all of you out there who want to play it now, I hope you all have a blast. Although I too have a Wii, I am going to stick with my schedule and play Mega Man 8 tomorrow before moving on to the newest entry in the series.

Mega Man 6
Rebel40000 - 9/21/08

Mega Man 6 was the last Mega Man game released for the NES. Coincidentally, it was also the only game in the series to have Robot Masters (Wind Man and Knight Man) to be made by non-Japanese residents. Many people say that this game is the worst of the Classic entries, although I myself rather enjoy it.

This time around Mr. X (a poorly disguised Wily) kidnaps eight robots from a tournament and uses them to take over the world. Mega Man comes this time around with a heavily modified Rush, now being able to transform into two different modes: Power Mega Man and Jet Mega Man. Utilizing both you can actually take different paths in the stages, allowing some re-playability. The Robot Masters themselves are all rather interesting, most hinting at having different nationalities (Flame Man is Arabian, Centaur Man is Greek, etc.). Overall it is a fun entry with some great music and graphics as it pushed the NES to it's limits. My only complaint was how the final stages were so dependent on the Rush Adapters and having MORE back-to-back castles.

Also, I know that the official release dates on MM9 have changed over here. Wii is still the 22nd, but PS3 is the 25th and 360 is now Oct. 1st. Despite this fact the Countdown will still go according to plan with MM8 ending on the 23rd. If anything, it will still match-up with the Japanese release date, so for all of those PS3 and 360 owners participating, I apologize. At least there are still other games to play in the meantime, like Mega Man & Bass and the Game Boy Mega Man games.

Mega Man 5
Rebel40000 - 9/20/08

While Mega Man 4 may be my most favorite Classic entry, Mega Man 5 is my least favorite. Nonetheless, it is a sound entry but it lacks the same flair that the previous four games had.

Once more Wily hides behind someone else while performing evil, this time creating a fake Proto Man to wreck havoc who also kidnaps Dr. Light. Mega Man is more or less the same as he was in Mega Man 4, although Rush received a few tweaks with the Rush Coil and the removal of the Rush Marine. Beat, a creation of Dr. Cossack, also makes its debut if you can collect the eight letters strewn about the eight Robot Master stages. There are two castles at the end of this game, just like the fourth, but this time around the levels feel more tedious than anything, with many really tough enemies (most of which are best taken out with a charge shot). The music isn't the best in the series and is probably the least memorable, but it isn't bad. Neither are the graphics, for that matter. Everything is simply "okay".

Overall, Mega Man 5 is not the most spectacular game to grace the Classic series' history, although most people seem to think that Mega Man 6 is the worst. My opinion, however, goes toward this game.

Mega Man 4
Rebel40000 - 9/19/08

Now for the long-sought answer to the question "What is Rebel's favorite Classic Mega Man game?" The answer is Mega Man 4. Now, I know I am a former member of Cossack's Comrades, but that isn't the source of my favoritism. This game is just plain awesome.

The game decides to take a different approach by having a new scientist known as Dr. Cossack trying to take over the world (later it turns out Wily is behind it, but oh well). Mega Man is now equipped with the new "Mega Buster" which allows him to charge his shots and fire them with more power. This makes the game slightly easier but you could also say that this was the first "modern" Mega Man game. Rush returns along with a new character known as Eddie (Flip-Top) who appears in certain stages to give you a randomly selected item. As for the stages themselves, they feel a little shorter than the previous three game's stages but the backgrounds are very detailed for an NES game with some of the best Classic music in my book. The bosses this time were just as bizarre as they were in MM3 featuring new challenges and enemies. Also, two castles back-to-back? Talk about awesome.

Mega Man 4 was a truly great game for its time. The only downside was by then the SNES had already come out and most people didn't pay too much attention to it, and many "hardcore" fans were still complaining that MM2 was the best. This one, however, has a special place in my heart. Good times, good times.

Mega Man 3
Rebel40000 - 9/18/08

I am not entirely certain how to describe Mega Man 3. Do not get me wrong, it is certainly an excellent entry in the series and is quite innovative in its own right, but at the same time the feel that this game has is so different compared to the first two games it is almost surreal. I suppose you could say that this was the game where Mega Man started to evolve.

Mega Man 3 continues the trend of fighting eight Robot Masters, this time with the help of Mega Man's robotic canine, Rush, who more or less replaces the functions of Item-1, 2, and 3 from MM2. The game also introduced Mega Man's ability to slide, so he could enter narrow passageways and dodge certain attacks. Throughout the stages you also encounter a mysterious robot known as Break Man who is in actuallity Proto Man, Mega Man's long-lost brother, and after completing the eight RM stages you unlock the "Doc Robot" stages--four stages which contain two Doc Robots each, all of them mimicking a specific Robot Master from MM2. The game was longer and could be quite frustrating at times due to some stages being so dependant on Rush's abilities.

A lot of people who do not believe MM2 is the best game typically claim this one to be the best. I, however, disagree once more. Which is my favorite, then, you may ask? Find out next time...

Mega Man 2
Rebel40000 - 9/17/08

Mega Man 2 is what many "hardcore" Mega Man fans consider to be the best game in the ENTIRE franchise. While I myself do not think it is the best of the best, it is certainly a classic. It fixed many of the issues the first game had and expanded on what made the original a hit.

This time around there were eight Robot Masters instead of six, most of them exhibiting new powers or focusing on certain aspects of the original six. Wood Man, for instance, was based around trees and nature, while Quick Man focused heavily on the speed that Elec Man showed. The levels were longer with new tricks and traps to make your time as frustrating as humanly possible. Thankfully, with the inclusion of the now-mandatory E-Tanks and Item-1, 2, and 3, the game was also easier, allowing you to recover your health when you were in a pinch and avoid some otherwise difficult obstacles. Coupled with the fact it has some great music and graphics for its time, and you have an A+ game.

Mega Man 2 definitely deserves the hype it gets and according to Inafune himself, he wants to surpass this game with Mega Man 9. Will he be able to do it? We'll find out in a few days...

Mega Man
Rebel40000 - 9/16/08

Ahh, Mega Man. I know thee well. Created by a small team of game developers, the game itself seemed doomed as even Capcom's top executives deemed it to be a failure. In an ironic twist of fate, that "failure" eventually became Capcom's official mascot, receiving numerous spin-offs and series branches, as well as becoming Capcom's #2 best-selling franchise, losing out to only Resident Evil. It all started with the NES game Mega Man, also known as Mega Man 1.

The concept was so simple: Select between six different stages and at the end of each stage fight a boss. By defeating the boss, you acquire their weapon, which can be used against other bosses and enemies in order to reveal their weaknesses. For example, Elec Man, one of the most frightening bosses in the entire series, can destroy Mega Man in a mere three hits at max health. By having Cut Man's weapon, the Rolling Cutter, however, you can easily even the odds by finished him off in three hits as well.

The game was buggy as Hell, though, but that's why we love it. Even after the brutality of the platforms in Ice Man's stage, even after the hair-pulling Yellow Devil battle, and even after the throwing-your controller-down-and cussing-up-a-storm final stage, we always come back for more. That's why we love you, Mega Man... just make sure Mega Man 9 isn't nearly as frustrating as your debut title, okay?

The Final Countdown
Rebel40000 - 9/14/08

For those who are unenlightened, Mega Man 9, the first original entry to the Classic franchise in ten years, will be released this month. According to several sources, the American release date is either going to be on the 22nd for the Wii, or the 24th for the 360, which also happens to coincide with the Japanese release date. Due to this, I have decided to pull together what I like to call "The Mega Man Countdown"!

It is very simple: Starting on September 16th people who are interested in participating will play the original Mega Man, and the following days after MM2-8, until September 24th, the day of the supposed 360 release! The schedule will go like so:

September 16th - Mega Man
September 17th - Mega Man 2
September 18th - Mega Man 3
September 19th - Mega Man 4
September 20th - Mega Man 5
September 21st - Mega Man 6
September 22nd - Mega Man 7
September 23rd - Mega Man 8
September 24th - Mega Man 9

No special requirements are needed to participate. This is freely open to everyone. You do not even need to own all of the games--as long as you want to sit down and enjoy some old-school Mega Man, then let nothing stop you! Get ready to pull out your NES/SNES/PSX/MMAC/Emulator and play some Mega Man!

Series 4 Section Up
Rebel40000 - 9/8/08

Now that Series 3 has finally been put to rest, it is time for us to move onward. That's right, boys and girls... Series 4 is now up for viewing! As expected, the only thing currently up is the prologue written by me, titled "Explainin' Things". It... explains... things. Okay!?

Other than that, I also updated the Rogue's Gallery, seeing as how a bunch of stuff happened to many of our villains in the last series. I may have to update it again soon, however. The next epilogue is actually already finished and all I need to do is sprite it, but lemme tell ya folks, it's gonna be a big one. I'll just leave you all in anticipation for next time! Mwahahah!

Epilogue Update
Rebel40000 - 7/10/08

Wow, another update already. July has been a pretty busy month I guess! As the title reads, a new epilogue is now up, called Majin World! This ep is another team collaboration project that we've been working on for a while now... so I hope the effort shows!

Also to add, the Teleporter section has been updated with some new links. Nothing all that important though.

The First of Many
Rebel40000 - 7/9/08

Well, someone has already discovered the Secret Page. I was rather surprised at how quickly it happened, but what the heck, let's give a big round of applause to Nathan, AKA Splash Warfly, for finding it so fast! As I mentioned in the last update, the secret page is located somewhere on this site. The link could be anywhere, so if you plan on finding it you must be prepared to look and high and low for it. If/when you do, you will find some nice goodies for your hard work. Not the most exciting for prizes, but hey, what do you expect from a video game-based site?

Happy searching!

The Big Day
Rebel40000 - 7/5/08

It's hard to imagine it has been four years already. Time certainly does fly. On this very day four years ago I revealed Island Attackers to the public. It brings back a lot of good and bad memories. I'm extremely happy that the team has survived this long and I hope that the success continues.

Enough about that though. I bet you guys are wondering "Where the heck are my updates!?" Well, in celebration for CIA's fourth anniversary I have decided to actually sprite that old Red Alert crossover back in Series 2, Holiday Dinner at Alice's Restaurant. That means that we finally have all of the epilogues actually on this server! Another thing I've been working on is a "secret page" of sorts. You read that right--somewhere on this site is a hidden link which takes you to a special page. There are some random bits of content located on that page, so check it out... if you can!

More Articles!
Rebel40000 -6/7/08

Another day, another update. I've been hard at work these past few days, working hard on a new article. For those of you who couldn't get enough of my last one, check it out!

Also since this marks my third article to date, I've decided to create a brand-spanking new section for all of them! It's called Rebel's Writings, and it is located in the Miscellaneous section. Remember: All new articles will be located there! Don't forget it!

EDIT: I nearly forgot to mention this, but two days ago was also CIA's one-year anniversary with our host, Honest Networks. Other than some small issues here and there, they've treated us good, unlike other hosts in the past. Keep up the good work, guys!

Egads! An Update
Rebel40000 - 5/27/08

Well, well, it's been a while. Despite what it may or may not seem, I haven't neglected this place. There just hasn't been anything to update about... and I dislike updating about not updating, if that makes sense.

Anyway.

I've finished a new epilogue, this one entitled Metavania, featuring that crazed rawkin friend of mine, Metabad, and one of my newest favorite series... Castlevania! u c wat i did thar? I've also tidied up the Archives section a little bit, separating updates from 2007 and 2008 (2008 is pretty much a clean slate, though). I can't really offer a link, so just check it out at the bottom of this page if you are interested in taking a look.

Brand New Epilogue
Rebel40000 - 4/29/08

As the title suggest, we have a new epilogue up for viewing. This one is titled Why is My Car Now a Footprint?, written by both Sean and Shadowstrike. I'd probably say something witty right about now, but I don't feel like it at the moment. So there ya go.

Apologies!
Rebel40000 - 4/14/08

I was contacted by Shadowstrike and Naoshi earlier that the site's domain went down some time Saturday. This issue was solved a little while ago, so I apologize for anyone who was left in the dark. I seriously didn't expect that to happen!

To make up for this error, I've decided to treat you all to a little something... another article! I decided to try my hand at writing another one... this time focusing on all about the ZX series! Just to be on the safe side, it does contain some spoilers, but who plays Mega Man games for plot (except me)? Hope you all enjoy.

Magna Centipede
Layout Change and More
Rebel40000 - 4/4/08

Well, this is certainly different. What started as some "slight tweaking" caused me to inadvertedly redo most of the site's appearance! Some parts may need some fixin', but it's gonna stay for now. Hope you all like the new banner (I love a good X-Hunter joke/beating).

As for what caused me to make this insane mess, take a look at this. That's right... it's the return of the hosted sites! Unlike last time, however, we actually have space. To burn. Literally. So I've started hosting this new Mega Man Team, Cosmos! It's also something I came up with, but I can't take all of the credit, seeing as how Avi (a member of the team) is doing a fine job operating it. On a semi-related note, Shadowflare was officially announced by Jade to be closed. Although he said they would be back, things tend to happen... so the CIA is now one affiliate less. I want to let anyone know that we are always looking for affiliates, so if you have the courage then take a look at this page!

We also have a new sprite sheet up in the Sprites section, featuring all of the CIA's Hyper Form sprites, in one neat, tidy package. Among other changes to go with the layout change, however, there is nothing more to be said! So go enjoy yourselves, kiddies!

The Epic Conclusion Now Up!
Rebel40000 - 3/21/08

Finally! After over two months since The Nightmare After Christmas was put up, part two, the conclusion, is now up as well! Be sure to go read it here. This is also the first epilogue to fully utilize the CIA's new 32-bit sprites, so I hope they are pleasing to look at, since I've worked pretty darn hard on them. From now on, the epilogues will use these sprites instead of the old 16-bit ones... for now, anyway.

In other news, I added some links to the bottom of the crossover eps. Y'know, Dissed in the Digital World? I realized (albeit a little late) that it would be a good idea to have links to both our and Alpha Movement's epilogue page that corresponds with the crossover on them, so that people who, say, visit CIA read the crossover and never heard of Alpha Movement until then can just check out their stuff by clicking the link. After all, reading both of our eps increases the fun when reading the crossover! So get to reading those crossovers already! And if you've already read 'em... then read 'em again!

Magna Centipede
Team Wiki!
Rebel40000 - 3/15/08

Ya hey! An important announcement right now. As most of you have probably noticed, the Database hasn't been updated in months and personally, it's too much of a hassle to handle by myself. This is what brings me to my point! Very recently, a wiki all about Mega Man Teams was made, which is supposed to detail all about the different teams, the characters that are in them... pretty much everything. It could get to be extremely detailed. So I've talked with Enigma, the creator of the Team Wiki and decided that this would be a great replacement for the outdated Database. Heck, maybe in the future the entire community could do entries on the different characters anyway, seeing as how many of them are regulars in the epilogues!

So that's all I wanted to say. All of the pages should be updated in a little bit, so just be prepared!

Magna Centipede
o_o
Rebel40000 - 3/6/08

....Yo. Long time no see, eh? Well, after making that last update I fell into a rut and got lazy. So I decided to proclaim February as a "break" from things. Oh yeah, I still didn't figure out that CSS stuff. I got sick of dealing with every problem that arose so I said "screw it." I'll probably learn it one day (I think I need to take a course on it at school regardless) so it'll be cool. So I'm just gonna make some much needed updates to satisfy everyone now, mm'kay?

As usual, a new epilogue has been added. It's another special, this one called Come Join Us, made by Shadowstrike! This one is yet another crazy epilogue featuring those loveable buffoons, the X-Hunters! It was also based off of a song, just so you know. Speaking of songs, I decided to update my old sing-a-long ep, Bohemian Rhapsody, with a link to the actual song, just like in our newest addition. So get to readin' and listenin', stat! More updates on the way soon... promise!

Delays
Rebel40000 - 1/28/08

Hey all, Rebel here. I'm certain some of you have been waiting for a new update since the last one, and I am here to say that there isn't any. Now you might be asking "Hey, Rebel, what's the big deal?" Well, some things have happened. First off, I'm trying to learn this new type of coding for the site called CSS, otherwise known as Cascading Style Sheets. The site as it is is currently a pain the buttocks to update with and so I am trying to figure out a simpler way of doing things. So I've been spending most of my online time on that. Second is work. Actually, no, not work, because they like to cut my hours. School, mostly, and their crazy assignments. So yeah. CSS, school, and sometimes, sometimes work. Plus I'm kinda stressed about money lately. I don't seem to have enough of it when I actually need it and no one cares enough to help me.

Stupid economy. I hate you.

So that's all for now. CIA will probably start updating again normally sometime around February 10th. Thanks for the patience!

First Update of the Year!
Rebel40000 - 1/11/08

Hey, hey, hey (how many times have I started an update with that!?)! As the title reads, this the CIA's first update for 2008, and boy oh boy, is it a doozy! First, let me announce that yeah, I surprisingly enough do check on my affiliates, as Maks announced HOTEC was dead a little while back, but I'm finally getting around to updating about it. Also, we have a new affiliate called Seven Mercenaries, another Mega Man Team. Actually, Naoshi (Enker) has been asking me to affiliate with them for a while, so I am happy to finally announce their arrival.

Second, we've got a new epilogue up for viewing. Presenting The Nightmare After Christmas! This is in no way dedicated to that one movie. But yeah, some big things are going down in the epilogues now, so expect more in the future (as usual). Lastly, I have a new little project going on which I am finally showing off. Behold, a mock soundtrack! The Super Awesome Fighting Force (Metabad and I) is now in action. This is merely for humor, so don't pay it any mind and simply enjoy.
