Name: Vile
Japanese Name: Vile
First Appeared: Rockman X (Super Famicom, 1993)
Quote: "I will haunt you until the day you die..."
Vile was originally a Maverick Hunter to fight against Mavericks. His methods, however, were deemed too risky and so he himself was labeled a Maverick before being deactivated. When Sigma decided to start his revolt, he reactivated Vile and set him loose upon the world. Although he was eventually destroyed by X, he was revived again by others such as Dr. Doppler and Techno. His last appearance was during the Orbital Elevator crisis, where he planned on ushering forth a brand new world for Reploids under Sigma and Lumine's leadership.
Throughout his years of being rebuilt, Vile has gone through several modifications, many becoming trademarks. His main weapon is a mounted shoulder cannon which can fire normal plasma shots and a special type of plasma which paralyzes a target upon contact, leaving them open for further assault. Later upgrades included a special capsule which released a column of fire to sweep across the floor and walls, and jet boosters located underneath his feet, allowing him expanded mobility into the air, and an electric charger which he could release in multiple directions and have the ability to control. His most prominent feature, however, is his skill in handling Ride Armors. Capable of utilizing several different types leaves Vile almost like a tank and combining his paralyzing plasma makes him a vicious opponent as well.
It is unknown where Vile's allegiance lies. Although Sigma was the one who freed him, it is said that Sigma merely released him to wreck havoc rather than to make him join his forces. Despite this Vile still follows the same path which leads to his death. When Doppler ressurected him, Vile went mad with anger at X, which caused an intense rivalry between the two until their inevitable showdown. When he was serving Lumine, however, Vile seemed far more calm and did not care about beating X as much as he did for just causing trouble. In many ways Vile can be considered a loose cannon--No one knows what he'll do because of his sporadic nature.
Weakness: As time progresses and his body is modified, several weaknesses have shown themselves in Vile's body structure. While fast, if he has a weapon that can lock onto his movements then the moment he stops will be his undoing (see Homing Torpedo). Furthermore, despite his armor a weapon that repeatedly pounds a target away can put a crack into it (see Ray Splasher). A weapon that can cover the hover jets on his feet and prevent them from working can also send Vile plummeting to his doom (see Drift Diamond, Hyouryuushou, and Ice Gatling).
